ECIS Press Statement
ECIS commends Estonian coalition agreement
Tallinn, 2 April 2007 — Today the new Estonian government adopted its coalition agreement. By putting e-government as a central plank in its programme, the new government will maintain Estonia’s leadership position in use of information technology in the public sector
“The coalition agreement will avoid imposing a single technology choice on Estonians seeking access to government services,” said Thomas Vinje, spokesperson for the European Committee for Interoperable Systems (ECIS). “By committing the coalition to ensuring that e-government services are available to citizens in a variety of widely used formats, fair and open competition are enhanced and citizens will benefit from greater choice in the marketplace.”
